Creating Affirmations

I have never met a person who did not wish their life to improve in some way. I mean, think about it- all the people you have met and spoke with, I’m sure they are striving for something in some way whether that be a better relationship, health, love, etc.

Today, I met with an old friend, and as she talked, I realized she was struggling with how and where to begin to make changes in her life. I feel that not knowing where to start typically leads to not making any changes at all.

So, I spoke with her about creating affirmations and was inspired to create a blog.

What are affirmations

The more you are committed to affirming what it is what you want and the changes that you want to happen, the more those desires become a swift part of your life. With the commitment of affirmations, you begin to lay new pathways down in your mind and also start to convince yourself that it is OKAY to have your most profound desires met. Once you decide that it is okay to have those needs met, you then start to make the changes in your life more possible.

How to create affirmations

Affirmations have been used around the world for thousands of years to achieve high levels of clarity, focus, and richness in life that most only dream of. When creating your affirmations, it is vital to know these fundamental essentials:

  1.  Create a sentence or phrase that you would use.
  2.  Positively state your affirmation without focusing on what you wish to avoid
  3. Use affirmations as a declaration of what has already been manifested or created in your life (as if it already has been there)
  4.  Truly feel what you are saying

Affirmation examples

There are so many different affirmations out there- If you need help with starting some here is a list to aid:

  • I am abundant
  • I am the change I wish to see in the world
  • My life moves with grace
  • All is well in my life
  • I am peaceful with all my emotions
  • I love and approve of myself
  • I take in and give out nourishment in perfect balance
  • I accept all the pleasure life has to offer
  • I am joy
  • I trust in my intuition
  • I seek experiences that nurture my spirit
  • I see peace; I feel peace, I am peace
  • I love love and love loves me

How to use affirmations

Start by saying it as many times a day as you can. Remember, the more you state an affirmation, the more it becomes embedded in your mind. And if wording comes out differently, then that is the natural way it was meant for you. There is no wrong or right way to doing these, but if you feel comfortable with what you are stating and feel the truth, it was meant to be said that way.

Make your affirmations in a song

Choose an affirmation that is calling to you the most. For example, you can take “My life moves with grace” to affirm and create a song based on another tune you recognize. Like from The Lion King — The Circle of Life- Instead, it can go, “My lifeeeeee moves with grace..” (In tune with the song que) I was never a perfect singer, but this is a fun way to get creative.

Affirmation artMake affirmations art

If you are less than a signer and a more visual person, you can make art for your crown chakra affirmation. You can take your favorite affirmation and create it either through your own expression or make a vision board with cut-outs. Have fun with this process because art comes in all kinds of mediums for you to use—crayons, markers, paints, glitter, watercolor, pastel, etc. The list can go on! The idea is to connect with your inner self, so do what feels right for you.

Change the words, add in adjectives

Impressive, elegant, delightful, magnificent, energized, vibrant, beautiful, creative, wonderful, great. These are all example adjectives that you can add-in. It is okay to change the words to any of these affirmations. These are merely suggestions to kick start the process and get you started on your crown chakra journey.

Affirmation placement ideas

Hang it on your bathroom mirror. Take a photo of the word you write and change it to your screensaver on your phone. Post it on the door you exit every day and make it a habit to say it before you leave home. Place it in your car. Leave it in your purse or wallet—cabinets or pantry doors.

Intention water

Write your affirmations down and tape it to your water bottle. Placing your affirmation on your water bottle helps infuse the water you are drinking with heightened intentions by charging every single cell in your body with your purpose.

Recommendation

If you are looking for a good book about healing yourself, check out You Can Heal Your Life by Louise L Hay. For any ache, pain, discomfort, there is an affirmation for it! She states, “The thoughts we think and the words we speak create our experiences.”

Suppose after all of this, you need a helping hand? I completely understand...

You see, creating and actively participating with your affirmations can be tough, especially without an accountability partner.

Part of my Distant Reiki session includes helping you get to know what your life's true purpose is, so that we may unlock your body's subtle energies toward manifesting your truth.

Affirmations are a great daily exercise that we can develop together, so you'll always find your way back if you are ever lost. Defining your affirmations is only a small part of what my Distant Reiki sessions offer.
