What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique that focuses on the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual levels. This energy healing helps you broaden your perspective and understand that you are more than just your physical body. Reiki can surround you through an energetic field to help ease your mind, reduce your pain, and bring balance to your life.

The word Reiki is composed of two Japanese words:

Rei – Universal or higher power

Ki- Life force energy

Combined, Reiki is a universal life force energy.

It is said that there is an unforeseen life force energy that flows through you and is what causes you to be alive. If your life force energy is low, it is more likely that you will begin to feel stress or get sick. However, if your life force energy is high, you are more capable of being healthy and content.

Reiki is a simple yet natural and safe healing method complementary with other therapy, surgery, medication, and self-healing practices. It opens up the wave of never-ending self-improvement to relieve you from symptoms of dis-ease.

Reiki is not dependent on your spiritual development, yet the willingness and curiosity to heal yourself naturally. This technique is for everyone of all ages and backgrounds.

While Reiki promotes working in harmony with everyone and everything, it is not a religion. Reiki helps you get closer to your authentic self and brings you closer to who you are and your personal beliefs. The founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui, recommends that Reiki is to be practiced under certain simple ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony to work across all cultures universally.

These ideals are as followed:

The secret art of inviting happiness
The miraculous medicine of all diseases
Just for today, do not anger. Do not worry and be filled with gratitude. Devot
e yourself to your work. Be kind to people.

Every morning and evening, join your hands in prayer.
Pray these words to your heart
and chant these words with your mouth

Before Your Session Begins

After scheduling your Distant Reiki Session, you will review and sign a condition of service and consent form. All questions or inquiries are encouraged during this process.

On the day of your Distant Reiki session, you will have the opportunity to discuss any specific problems or issues you are experiencing over your scheduled Zoom Video or phone call. Your link will be sent through email for you to join.

Cassandra will help guide with open-ended questions to dig deeper into any measures you are looking to address. You may also be asked what you hope to achieve through your session or set one word or a phrased intention.

Diagnosis is not part of Reiki practice. Cassandra may suggest common-sense suggestions for the aftercare, such as drinking water and following your body's needs.

During the Session

You will have the option to continue to have your video call on. Other times, individuals prefer to rest comfortably lying down, take a bath, listen to music, etc. The possibilities are endless for how you would like to receive Reiki as long as you are comfortable and undisturbed for the remainder of the session time. Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is recommended.

Your distant healing session can be performed in several ways if chosen not to relax a different way. Methods for Reiki includes a proxy, visualization, crystal gridding, or just the simple projection of Reiki. No matter the way Distant Reiki is performed, the ancient distant Japanese Reiki symbols connect you and Cassandra in a sacred healing space among the ether.

The session will then proceed with moving through specific Reiki hand positions, typically beginning at your head, feet, or other areas, depending on what is going on in the body.

After Your Distant Reiki Session

After your Distant Reiki session is complete, Cassandra will provide you insight from your session. This feedback will be chosen based on the way your reiki session was performed. Either by Video/Phone call, or it can be a written description via email. General guidelines for aftercare will be provided and any additional suggestions for holistic health-promoting the Traditional Hindu Chakra system.

Note: A typical Reiki sessions lasts 60-90 minutes.

How Does Reiki Work?

Reiki works like a thermostat that regulates the body. Much like a furnace that automatically turns on and off to control the temperature, Reiki flows slowly or rapidly-as-needed- to dispense balancing energies. Like a pendulum swinging back and forth, Reiki sometimes moves erratically, other times smooth.

Who is Distant Reiki for?

Reiki can be sent to anyone in the world, no matter where or who you are. The transmission of energy through a remote session is just as strong as if you were receiving a hands-on treatment in person. Reiki is for all living beings, no matter the age - including children, and pets.

What Does Receiving Reiki feel like?

The churning of Ki can often be felt as pins-and-needles, tingles, hot flashes, goosebumps, chills, throbbing, warmth, cold, subtleness, steadfastness, or even forcefulness. These sensations are nearly always pleasant.

Sometimes, you may experience:

  • Clairaudience - clear hearing.
  • Clairsentience - clear feeling.
  • Clairalience - clear smelling.

At times, you may feel no sensations at all. Reiki sensations can be very subtle and may be overlooked. Still, you will notice even the slightest shifts of energy with continued sessions. Or perhaps feel a sense of being more present after the session.

Fortunately, Reiki works whether you feel it or not. If you have difficulty feeling sensations while receiving treatment, try closing your eyes, and do some deep breathing.

Keeping your eyes shut eliminates visual distractions and allows you to focus on your initial intention and breath.

If you find yourself having a hard time relaxing, Cassandra likes to say, "Don't try to relax; let Reiki relax you!" Your state will shift naturally. In the meantime, it is encouraged to daydream, enjoy music and aroma, or observe your breath or the sensations you may be experiencing.
