How to Heal the Heart Chakra

Chanting

In Sanskrit, the term "chant" refers to a sound, syllable, word, or phrase that holds sacred significance. Chanting involves the repetitive vocalization of a mantra. This process of repetition embeds the mantra deeply into the subconscious mind, enabling it to guide behavior and decision-making, particularly in challenging situations.

The primary purpose of chanting a mantra is to clear the mind of its usual clutter and chaos, facilitating a transition to a more tranquil and serene mental state. While mantras can be repeated silently within the mind, it is often recommended to vocalize them aloud for greater effect.

As you engage in the practice of chanting, you may notice a decrease in the frequency and intensity of your thoughts. This reduction in mental noise brings about several benefits, including increased awareness, relaxation of body muscles, and enhanced proactivity. The practice of chanting not only serves as a powerful tool for mental clarity but also contributes to overall physical and emotional well-being.

Chant the Heart Chakra Seed Syllable

The seed syllable for the heart chakra is YAM. Not pronounced like your traditional yam in the grocery store, but instead almost like the sound of the name Tom. Yam chanted carries out the meaning of the air element, heart chakra, and is connected to the control you have over the air and your breath, and as you chant the mantra, your mind will begin to calm and be present.

  1. Choose to sit on the floor either in a chair or on a stool having your feet flat on the floor. If you are seated on the floor, it is usually most comfortable to sit cross-legged (easy pose) on a cushion.
  2. Close your eyes, and focus your gaze up and in to your third eye space.
  3. Breathe deeply and slowly inhaling, then exhaling and focusing solely on your breath. Repeat as many times as it feels good.
  4. Concentrate on the heart chakra area in the center of your chest on your next deep inhale.
  5. On the exhale, chant the sound YAM until your breath can no longer hold out without strain.
  6. Inhale deep, and begin to chant again. Repeat chanting 10 times as a steady pace or until you feel the vibrancy taking your time between each breath.

Heart Chakra Enhancing Foods

Vibration is a fundamental aspect of everything around you, even extending to the very foods you consume. Certain foods, particularly vegetables any green colors, play a crucial role in the energetic awakening and balancing of the Heart Chakra.

Vegetables are unique in their formation, as they are the direct result of photosynthesis—a process not replicable by the human body. This process enables vegetables to capture the vital energy of sunlight, incorporating a harmonious balance of elements from the earth, air, fire (represented by the sun), and water. This synthesis of cosmic and earthly energies in vegetables mirrors the balanced essence of the heart chakra.

By incorporating a variety of vegetables into your diet, you are essentially nourishing your body with foods that are imbued with the energetic qualities necessary for opening and harmonizing your heart chakra. This alignment with natural processes and balances can foster a deeper connection to your heart's energy center to help promoting emotional well-being and a sense of interconnectedness with the natural world.
